I was reading Good2Know and thought Live Earth’s latest project might be of interest to you and your readers, especially since you wrote about Global warming and other environmental issues. ABSOLUT VODKA has recently turned its site into the world’s greatest online forum for visionaries, where creative thinkers and online users from around the world are encouraged to submit their ideas of an ‘ABSOLUT world’. These visions touch upon environmental issues, new innovations, culture, fantasies or everyday life – essentially, anything that expresses what life could be like in an ABSOLUT world.
The Live Earth filmmakers’ visions of an ABSOLUT world explore worlds where people enlighten, educate and sometimes instruct the viewers on a wide range of environmental issues ranging from global warming to the fossil fuel crisis.
There are 29 videos in all, that range from humorous/lighthearted stories to ones that are more serious and stern.
One of my favorites is Director Rupert Jone’s, Think – a funny short film that concentrates on the appropriate use and reuse of plastic grocery bags with the aid of subversive British humor. http://absolut.typepad.com/liveearth/2008/03/rupert-jones-th.html
Another personal favorite is duo Directors Mac Carter and Sean Welsh’s, Dave – a poignant and charming story about a man’s quest to educate drivers about the uses of bio-diesel as a fuel alternative. Through a series of vignettes, we learn how it can be easily obtained from local fast food restaurants. http://absolut.typepad.com/liveearth/2008/04/mac-carter-sean.html
Also notable is Chad Lowe’s short documentary on global warming. http://absolut.typepad.com/liveearth/2008/04/chad-lowe-takin.html
